GENERAL

1. What is vaccination ?
Vaccination is giving a small amount of microba which had been inactivated or attenuated to healthy person to induced his body to produce antibody againts the microba.

2. Does vaccination will cause an illness ?
No, vaccination will not cause an illness. But vaccination may induced some systemic and local reactions, such as fever, irritable, redness and pain at the site of injection. But the disease which could prevent by vaccination are more harmful.

3. Does vaccination only given for infant or children ?
No, vaccinations are given depends on the age of the subject. DTP, BCG, Measles and Oral Polio Vaccines are usually given to infant or children. There are some vaccines that important to adult such as tetanus toxoid, hepatitis B, influenza etc.

COMBINATION VACCINE

1. What is combination vaccine ?
Combination vaccine is a vaccine that contains several antigens , which usualy given separately.

2. What is the advantage of combination vaccine ?
Combining several antigens will reduce number of injection and visit to immunization fasility. From six injections or visits will reduced to only 3 injections or visits. Combination vaccine also will reduce cost of vaccination. Number of vials, boxes, syringes will reduce and safe more cost for vaccination.

3. Does Bio Farma produce combination vaccine ?
Bio Farma had produced DTP-HB vaccine, which had been used by Indonesian EPI since 2004. This DTP-HB vaccine also had been expored to several countries. Right now Bio Farma is developing pentavalent vaccine, which contains DTP, Hepatitis B and haemophilus influenza type b antigens.

4. How about the safety of this DTP-HB combination vaccine ?
DTP-HB (Bio Farma) vaccine had passed several clinical trials. During the trials, there were no severe adverse event found, and no significant defference interm of safety and immunogenicity with the seperate vaccines.
