PRODUCT INNOVATION

Bio Farma has launched its innovation product called UNIJECT in November 3rd 2000, and acknowledged by UNICEF as "The first vaccine manufacturer producing in a formed of UNIJECT".
With this innovation, Bio Farma has also expanded its product performances such as Hepatitis B recombinant and TT vaccines in UNIJECT.

UNIJECT is a trademark of auto disable pre-filled injection device that has beneficial such as reducing the risk of disease transmission caused by re-usable syringe. Because of its unique system, Uniject contains vaccines on its reservoir and auto destruct after use.

UNIJECT is a pre-filled injection device made of disposable plastics, single dose pre-filled in elastomer free-drug reservoir, having permanent needle syringe derived from silicon stainless steel which covered by polypropylene shield. The uniject is ultimately covered in an outer package consists of heat sealed aluminum foil pouch.

Uniject Advantages :

SAFE
Single use only, prevent from disease transmission because of the re-usable syringe.

SIMPLE
Can be functioned as syringe and vaccine reservoir, easy to carry and no wastage.

SECURE
NO more children fear of using the syringe.

STABLE
Uniject is packed on aluminum foil pouch in order to avoid vaccine from climate changes and vaporized.

STERILE
Inject is being processed in gamma radiation and GMP condition.

PARTNERSHIP

Transfer of know how and technology have been received by Bio Farma to develop its new vaccines from the following international institutes :

  • Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM)/National Institute of Public Health and Environment, the Netherlands. Now this Institute has changed its name into NVI (Nederland Vaccine Institute): Bio Farma has engaged the research collaboration with RIVM/NVI to produce DPT vaccine and combine this vaccine with Hepatitis B-Hib vaccines. It is also planned to combine DPT with IPV (Inactivated Polio Vaccine).

  • Japan Poliomyelitis Research Institute (JPRI), Japan : The collaboration is the transfer of technology from JPRI to Bio Farma for Trivalent Oral Polio Vaccine (TOPV) production, and MAPREC and transgenic mice.

  • The Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN Kanonji Institute), Japan :. This Institute has transferred its technology to Bio Farma for Measles Vaccine CAM-70.

  • Becton Dickinson, USA : A new package of single dose vaccine in the auto destruct pre-fill injection device (UniJect) has been introduced.

  • Berna Biotech Korea Corp. Crucell Berna, Korea : Bio Farma extends a collaboration with Berna Biotech Korea Corp. Crucell Berna in producing Hepatitis B recombinant vaccine.

  • Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Atlanta-USA : The collaboration has been established in the field of technology for polio and measles surveillance tests. This technology covers probe hybridization, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Polio and Measles viral sequencing.

  • JICA, USAID, AusAID, Colombo Plan, WHO, UNICEF : Those international organizations have donated their financial support and production facilities.

  • Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) - Australia : MCRI gives a technology of Rotavirus Vaccine development to Bio Farma.
