Bio Farma and DWP Central Expand Access to HPV Vaccination Through DWP Sehat Program

Bandung, September 18, 2026 — PT Bio Farma (Persero) and Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Central are strengthening efforts to prevent cervical cancer through the DWP Sehat HPV Vaccination Program. The program was launched simultaneously on September 9, 2026, across eight regions: Jakarta, Tangerang Regency, Medan, Bandung, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Manado, and Denpasar.

The collaboration aims to expand access to Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for DWP members while increasing awareness of the importance of cervical cancer prevention. Through the program, Bio Farma and DWP Central encourage women to take preventive measures to protect their health.

Bio Farma Commercial Director Fitri Puspadewi said the collaboration with DWP Central provides an opportunity to bring HPV vaccination closer to communities while promoting a culture of prevention among families and society.

“Prevention is an important step in maintaining health. Through the DWP Sehat program, we aim to provide DWP members with closer and easier access to HPV vaccination, while raising awareness that protection against cervical cancer can begin with preventive measures,” said Fitri.

She added that promoting women’s health also contributes to the well-being of families and future generations. She therefore encouraged DWP members to make use of the program in accordance with applicable provisions.

“Every preventive step we take today is an investment in our health and our future,” she added.

HPV is the primary cause of cervical cancer. A person can become infected without knowing it and may still transmit the virus. HPV is mainly transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact in the genital area, including when an infected person has no symptoms. Prevention is therefore important and can include a combination of measures, such as HPV vaccination and early detection of cervical cancer through screening in accordance with healthcare recommendations.

Cervical cancer remains a significant health challenge for women in Indonesia. Based on GLOBOCAN 2022 data cited by the Indonesian Ministry of Health in its article, Cervical Cancer: Preventable and Eliminable, published on February 26, 2025, an estimated 36,964 new cervical cancer cases and 20,708 deaths occurred in Indonesia in 2022. Cervical cancer was also the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Indonesia after breast cancer.

Chairwoman of DWP Central, Ida Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in her remarks at the program launch in Jakarta, emphasized that women’s health and well-being play an important role in building healthy and happy families. Through DWP Sehat, the organization encourages women to take greater responsibility for their health and make use of opportunities for prevention through HPV vaccination.

“The DWP Sehat program is one of our priority programs. Let us make health an investment in the future, because healthy women contribute to strong families, and strong families are the foundation of a more advanced Indonesia,” said Ida.
