Bio Farma Wins 2026 Primaniyarta Award in FTA Utilization Exporter Category

Friday, 16 October 2026

Bandung, October 16, 2026 — PT Bio Farma (Persero) has received the 2026 Primaniyarta Award in the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Utilization Exporter category at the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), held at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Wednesday, October 14.

The award, presented by Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, was received by Bio Farma’s Commercial Director, Fitri Puspadewi. This marks Bio Farma’s 12th Primaniyarta Award since 2010, recognizing the company’s contribution to Indonesia’s national export performance.

At the 40th TEI in 2025, Bio Farma received the Primaniyarta Lifetime Achievement Award. Bio Farma was also the only state-owned enterprise (SOE) to receive a Primaniyarta Award that year.

Bio Farma’s contribution to national exports is reflected in cumulative export value exceeding IDR 10 trillion during the 2021–2025 period. Its vaccine products have also reached more than 150 countries across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas through institutional procurement channels and bilateral partnerships. This global reach reflects the trust placed in Bio Farma’s products by international organizations, governments, and healthcare stakeholders worldwide. These achievements demonstrate the ability of Indonesia’s healthcare industry to compete in international markets while contributing to the country’s export growth.

Over several decades, Bio Farma has developed into one of the world’s leading vaccine manufacturers, helping strengthen global health through the supply of high-quality vaccines and biological products. Since entering international markets in 1997, Bio Farma has exported more than 90 billion vaccine doses, supporting immunization programs that protect millions of people against vaccine-preventable diseases.

With an annual production capacity of 3.1 billion doses and a portfolio of 20 products prequalified by the World Health Organization (WHO), Bio Farma continues to support global vaccine needs while maintaining internationally recognized standards of quality, safety, and efficacy. Its export portfolio includes bacterial and viral vaccines, including polio and measles vaccines, as well as vaccine drug substances that support disease prevention efforts in various countries.

The FTA Utilization Exporter category recognizes exporters that consistently leverage free trade agreements to increase exports and expand access to international markets. For Bio Farma, utilizing FTAs is an integral part of its market development strategy and efforts to strengthen global partnerships.

Bio Farma Commercial Director Fitri Puspadewi stated that the award would motivate the company to further enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian healthcare products.

“This award motivates Bio Farma to continue strengthening the competitiveness of our products in international markets. By optimizing the utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), we aim to unlock broader market opportunities, strengthen strategic partnerships, and increase the contribution of Indonesian healthcare products to national exports,” Fitri said.

She added that international market development would continue to be driven by innovation, product quality improvements, and stronger cross-border collaboration to support sustainable export growth.

“We hope Indonesian healthcare products will not only be able to compete in global markets but also make a tangible contribution to strengthening health resilience and enhancing Indonesia’s position in the global healthcare supply chain,” Fitri added.

Alongside its international market development, Bio Farma continues to strengthen its capabilities and technological expertise to support national healthcare needs. One example is Bio-TCV, Bio Farma’s typhoid conjugate vaccine, whose development has involved research collaboration, technology transfer, clinical trials, and regulatory evaluation, culminating in marketing authorization from Indonesia’s National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM).

The development of Bio-TCV reflects Bio Farma’s efforts to strengthen its expertise in conjugation technology and expand Indonesia’s domestic vaccine production capacity. These efforts are accompanied by a commitment to maintaining a sustainable product supply, expanding access, and delivering high-quality vaccines at competitive prices. Public acceptance is also supported through collaboration with healthcare professional organizations, healthcare facilities, academic institutions, and evidence-based education.

Another development is Bio-RV, a neonatal rotavirus vaccine resulting from collaboration between Bio Farma and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI). The vaccine received marketing authorization from BPOM on September 2, 2026. Its development has involved research, preclinical and clinical trials, technology transfer, and preparations for domestic manufacturing in Indonesia through collaboration with national academic institutions and global partners.

Bio-RV offers the potential to provide protection against rotavirus disease from an early age. Developing the expertise and manufacturing capabilities for this vaccine domestically is expected to strengthen vaccine availability and supply continuity while reducing dependence on imported products. The development of Bio-TCV and Bio-RV demonstrates how collaboration and technological expertise can address public health needs while strengthening Indonesia’s domestic vaccine industry.

At the 41st TEI, Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, set a target of US$17.5 billion in trade transactions, up from the previous year’s target of US$16.5 billion. He expressed appreciation for the contributions of exporters and all parties supporting the connection between Indonesian products and international buyers.

“We hope the trade transaction value at Trade Expo Indonesia will meet its target and, hopefully, even exceed it,” Budi said.

As a state-owned life sciences company and part of the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem, Bio Farma is committed to strengthening its global competitiveness while supporting Indonesia’s healthcare self-sufficiency and resilience. Strengthening corporate governance, developing capabilities and innovation, and fostering collaboration across research, production, distribution, and healthcare services are integral to the company’s transformation agenda. Through these efforts, Bio Farma continues to support access to, availability of, and a sustainable supply of healthcare products and services for the people of Indonesia.
